How to make a study timetable you can actually follow
A useful timetable answers three questions: what will I study, when will I do it, and how will I know the session worked? Start with the time you really have, then give each block one clear outcome.
Start with fixed commitments
Put classes, travel, meals, sleep, activities and existing deadlines into your calendar first. The hours left over are your study capacity. If the timetable requires you to skip sleep or a regular commitment, it is already broken.
Count the available blocks in a normal week. Reserve some unassigned time for late homework, illness or a topic that takes longer than expected.
Turn a subject into a specific task
“Study biology” is hard to start and impossible to measure. “Answer ten cell-division questions, check the mark scheme and list the mistakes” has a finish line. For every study block, write a small deliverable.
Use your syllabus to identify the next topic and your latest marked work to decide what needs attention. Give difficult or soon-to-be-tested material a place before easy review.
Use a repeatable weekly rhythm
At the start of the week, choose two or three priorities. Give each priority several short blocks rather than one huge session. Alternate demanding work with lighter tasks such as flashcard review or organizing notes.
At the end of each session, record what you finished and what remains. At the end of the week, move unfinished tasks into next week instead of silently carrying an unrealistic backlog.
Check whether the plan works
The best evidence is your ability to answer questions without notes. Try a short retrieval quiz or practice question after revision, then use mistakes to choose the next block. A colored calendar is useful only if it leads to learning.
If you miss a session, shorten the next plan rather than doubling it. A timetable should adapt to your life while keeping your priorities visible.
